Office display

This service drives the office televisions. It has no screens of its own: a television is pointed at its own private address, and that address comes from the sales board.

Setting up a television? Open /setup on it.

1. On the television, open /setup on this host. It shows a short code.
2. Sign in to the sales board and open Admin, then Office displays. Add the screen if it is not there, and choose the playlist it should run.
3. On that screen, select Claim a TV and type the code. The television picks up its private address by itself within a few seconds and starts showing the board.
4. On the television: hide the address bar, turn off the screensaver, and turn off device sleep. The address is a private link, so it should not be left visible where a visitor could photograph it.

The other way still works: on the screen, select Issue a new link. The address is shown once, and looks like /w/… on this host. Type it into the television’s browser and bookmark it.

The screen keeps working if the sales board is unavailable. It shows the last figures it received with the time they were taken, and it picks up again on its own once the board is back. Nobody has to visit the television.

If a screen goes dark or a link needs replacing, both are done from the same page on the sales board. Claiming a television or issuing a new link keeps the old link alive for an hour, so a screen is never cut off part way through the day.
